My doctor started me on pitocin at 8:55 AM, and he was out almost exactly 5 hours later at 1:53 PM. Labor with each of the girls was so fast and hectic that this time seemed to take forever. It was weird to be relaxing in the hospital for so long just waiting for something to happen. My wonderful sister Colleen was there and helped me through labor without an epidural. I'm pretty sure I would have insisted on an epidural if I had known how big he was! Here's my first view of him, crying on my chest immediately after delivery:
Here's proof of his weight, 10 lb 1.3 oz:
Here's a big yawn after he got cleaned up:
And here's the first family picture, taken when Eric brought the girls to see me in the evening:
We had to skip the newborn size diapers and clothes, both were a bit snug. Also, he had jaundice so we had to use the bili-blanket for a few days. Other than that things have gone well and we're all loving the new addition to our family!
