fourth

We spent the 4th of July weekend at Eric's mom's house. It was a lot of fun, but here's a memo to ourselves for next time:
  • Barq's Root Beer has caffeine in it if you get it outside of Utah.
  • Do not give caffeine to 2-year-olds while you're reading books to put them to bed or they may have extreme difficulty going to sleep.
Before making the final 30 minute drive to Nancy's we stopped to pick up some dinner. Somehow I forgot that Barg's has caffeine and somehow Eric didn't think about it either so Madilyn was up until about 2 A.M. She didn't sleep in much the next morning so she fell asleep during our drive into town. Once in town, I stayed in the car for over an hour with her to let her get more sleep, but apparently it still wasn't enough because this is how she woke up:We wandered around downtown until the parade began. Madilyn has always been sensitive to loud noises so she did not like the Shriners driving around in their tiny noisy cars.
She jumped out of her seat, ran to me, and covered her ears until they were completely out of earshot.
This was Madilyn's favorite float, a giant fish with bubbles coming out of its mouth. She even took this picture.

That video of Abby doing the army crawl is too cute. Looks like you had a fun 4th, except for the root beer. I'm sure you will never make that mistake again. Madilyn's hair is getting so long and pretty.
