pigtails

Once, when I was too small to do my own hair, I wanted to go play so I asked my sister to do my hair before I left. She gave me two pigtails, laughed that I looked like a little puppy dog (my hair was bushy from getting perms), and then left me home alone (probably thinking I would immediately go to my friend's house). Instead, I didn't dare leave the house because she had laughed at me and told me I looked like a dog! I sat home and cried until a different sister came home and put my hair in a ponytail.
Madilyn has no such qualms. I put her hair in pigtails and she LOVED her puppy ears. She even said her name was Pepper (the name of Grandma's dog). Her first puppy-like behavior: licking my face!
