Easter celebration

Pretty much every time we try to make it to the holiday activities at Eric's grandfather's retirement home we get there late and miss all or most of the activity.
To ensure that this didn't happen again for the Easter activities on Saturday we did everything we could to get there on time. We called Eric's mom the night before to make sure we had the right time, we decided to pack the girl's clothes so we wouldn't have to get them ready before leaving the house, and we gave ourselves plenty of time to be there by the 9:00 A.M. start time. We woke up on time, got ourselves ready and the girls' diaper bags packed, and put cute, matching outfits in a bag to take with us. The car ride was uneventful and we got there on time! It was a miracle!
As we pulled into the parking lot I thought something was weird because there weren't very many cars there. We hauled all our stuff in and went to say "hi" to Granddaddy, and found out that we were an hour early! Oh well, that gave us plenty of time to get the girls changed out of their pajamas and into their clothes. It was then that we discovered that the bag of clothes never made it into the car. Lovely. So all around us the other children were dressed nicely in bright spring colors, and our girls looked neglected, stuck in their pajamas. At least neither of them cared.
There was a petting zoo that brought baby animals that couldn't have been more than a few days or weeks old. They had baby lambs, goats, chicks, a rabbit and a pig wandering around for the kids to pet.
When Madilyn first saw the animals she tried to kiss some of them and the guy who brought the animals told her not to because she might give them germs! That surely was the least of my worries.

Both girls sat on the Easter Bunny's lap.

Then Madilyn ran around gathering eggs during the egg hunt.
By the end Madilyn was super tired so she had to lay down and rest for a minute. She ended up falling asleep in the car during the 25 minute drive to the store we stopped at before heading home.

How fun for all the kids to see the baby animals. I am suprised your girls were so happy to sit on the Easter bunny. I think TJ would have freaked out.

I was really surprised how much Madilyn liked the Easter bunny. The day before this we saw an Easter bunny at Wal-mart and Madilyn ran up to it, all excited. I thought it was much scarier looking than Santa, but Madilyn didn't think so. I asked her and she said she's still scared of Santa, but the Easter bunny is not scary. Go figure.

Am I the only one that thinks it's weird that little kids are now sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap? Abby's face perfectly depicts how I feel about all this.

I have to admit that sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap is a new thing to me. He was always a mystery when I was little. It has got to be pretty amazing to little ones seeing a huge walking stuffed animal that can wave at you and give you a big hug. No wonder he is beating out Santa (the old man that they have never seen before). Almost every kid has seen and hugged a stuffed bunny.
