I wanted to post about Madilyn asking Eric for a blessing. Abby's teeth have been trying to poke through for the past week and she's really having a tough time with it. She's been up a ton at night, unable to sleep, and has been really grumpy, rubbing at her mouth all day long. On Sunday I knew both Abby and I were desperately in need of sleep, so I asked Eric to give her a blessing before putting her to bed. Madilyn watched, and then when Eric got done Madilyn wanted him to put his hands on her head and say a prayer. Eric did, and when he was finished Madilyn stood up and said, "My head feels much better!" Last night when we said our family prayers Madilyn again wanted Eric to put his hands on her head, so we had a quick discussion of how that is a special blessing, not something we do every time we pray.
I'm so grateful that Madilyn has such an interest in spiritual things. As Eric said in his post, she often says, "I love (or like) church!" and she likes to read the Book of Mormon and look for the story of Baby Jesus. Also, she's getting really good at saying prayers by herself, as long as there's nothing else she'd rather be doing (she learned that prayers can be really quick if she just says, "Jesus Christ, amen.").
